For much of their history the Seattle Mariners have been king among peasants in the undesirable realm of baseball purgatory. Rooting for them is always a test of patience and sanity, but we do it all the same. I started making and posting edits like these on Twitter purely for mine and others’ entertainment, to enjoy and also (mostly) cope with the absurdity of this franchise. Some of them were made with in-season storylines or anecdotes in mind, so there may be some context needed, in which case I’ll do my best to provide some when necessary.
In late 2023 the Mariners needed some help from other teams to make the postseason. Players around the league aren’t worried about anything besides helping their own team win, but I thought it’d be funny to imagine otherwise. That any home run or great pitching performance that benefited Seattle would out them as comrades to The Cause and would be glorified for helping the Mariners reach the postseason. So I made these templates to post with those highlights. These were tweeted individually (see below) but I compiled a few into the video above.

The MLB Field of Dreams game between the White Sox and Yankees ended with a walk-off home run and the fireworks immediately made me think of that classic 4th of July scene from The Sandlot. I edited a few clips together for a baseball promo
